Supply Chain Jam Sessions

You probably know about “jam sessions” in music. Our Supply Chain Jam Sessions are relatively informal events where professionals perform improvisations and vamp on themes and subject matter progressions.

To “jam” is to improvise SCM experience without extensive preparation or predefined skripts, except for when the group is discussing well-known SCM standards or iterates popular statements.

Our Supply Chain Jam Sessions were born from mutual esteem, long-term fellowship, and trust.

We “jammed” frequently and thought, “hey, this might have been interesting for other pro’s as well!”

And it was fun.

  • Often, ‘free flow sessions’ are used to develop new insights and find different or suitable perspectives.
  • Or – jamming is simply used as a social gathering and communal practice session.

The Jam Sessions may be based upon existing knowledge or forms, may be loosely based on an agreed supply chain subject or theme suggested by one participant, or may be wholly improvisational.

Jam Sessions can range from

  • very loose gatherings to
  • events where a jam session coordinator or host acts as a “gatekeeper” to ensure that only appropriate-level performers take the stage, to
  • sophisticated improvised sessions by professionals which are intended to be broadcast live on the web or edited and released to the public.
